１）はじめに
プリントザウルスの愛称で親しまれている国際版画交流協会は、既存の確立した日本の美術界の枠を越えて、大きな視野と柔軟性を持ち、日本国内のみならず幅広く世界中の版画家達との版画交流を推進することを大きな目的として、それに賛同する意欲的な若い作家やベテラン版画家達が集まった活動的なグループです。
非営利集団であるプリントザウルスは、現在６０名を越えるオリジナル版画を制作する版画家達によって構成されています。作家自らが運営し、数々の活動をこれまでに行って来ました。
プリントザウルスは、１９８７年中華民国の若手版画家グループとの交流展を持つことをきっかけとして発足しました。その時参加した数名の日本人作家が中心となって、今日のプリントザウルスの母体となるグループが作られ、活動が開始されました。

２）活動内容
プリントザウルスは、これまで中華民国・中華人民共和国・大韓民国・タイのアジアの国々をはじめとして、アメリカ・カナダ・ベルギー・イタリアの欧米の作家との数々の交流展、グループ展、個展を双方の国で企画運営し、開催してきました。
その活動において、魅力ある海外作家との版画作品の交流をするため、民間レベルでのより底辺からのアプローチが大切であると考えています。つまり、プリントザウルスにとっての交流の始まりは、個人レベルでの海外作家の出会いとお互いの信頼がきっかけとなります。その関係をさらに発展させ遂行するために、参加メンバーは草の根的な活動とボランティア精神が必要とされます。
ここで付け加えなければならない背景として、常に展覧会運営のため経済的問題を抱えるプリントザウルスにとって、その趣旨にご賛同いただける美術館・画廊・公共団体・大使館等の後援を仰ぐことによって、数々の国々との交流展を実現化させ成功させてきたことです。

３）組織内容
プリントザウルスでは、組織全体をとりまとめる本部を設けています。しかし、実際の交流展の運営に関しては、各展覧会の参加メンバーによる国別のプロジェクトを作り、事務局をその都度設置して活動を行っています。

４）交流意義
プリントザウルスは、諸外国と現代版画を交流する意義を次のように考えています。
◆芸術表現形態の一つである作家自らが作るオリジナル版画は、それが持つ複数性と郵送手段による移送の簡便性から、海外と交流を行う上で非常に適していること。
◆従来の美術館、評論家、画廊主の主導ではない、作家自らの企画立案・運営によって展覧会を持つことにより、日本のみならず諸外国のより広い世間に対して、あまり知られていない若手の現代版画作品を紹介すること。
◆相互の交流展を通じて、より多くの人々に現代版画の芸術的価値を認知、理解されることを促すこと。
◆作家自らが運営することで、社会体制、文化そして歴史の異なる諸外国の芸術家や作品と直接出合い、触れ合うことにより、相互理解を深め、影響し合うこと。
以上を遂行することは、実際には私達自信が日本についてよく知り、制作活動をする自分自身をよく知る絶好の機会を得ることになると思うからです。

５）将来目標
プリントザウルスは、木が葉と枝を増し幹を太くさせるように、地道な交流活動を通して近い将来世界各国の版画家達とのネット・ワークを持ち、版画交流の輪を世界的に広げることを目指しております。

以上、私たちは常に賛同される日本や諸外国の作家達の申し出を広く受け入れる用意があります。

1) Introduction
INTERNATIONAL PRINT EXCHANGE ASSOCIATION IN JAPAN, friendly called PRINTSAURUS as its nickname, has been at the heart of the upsurge in printmaking activity in Japan since 1987.
PRINTSAURUS is an association as a non-profit arts organization, run by its members whose big aims are to take a wider view beyond the established Japanese arts circles, and to promote the Print Exchange Exhibition with many foreign printmakers all over the world as well as domestic ones.
Currently it has over 60 members who are the young or leading artists, creating and producing their own original prints.
It has obtained the good results of many successful exhibitions through its positive activity, its members conducted by themselves.

2) Activity
PRINTSAURUS has planned, organized and held the International Print Exchange Exhibitions together with foreign printmakers in not only Taiwan, China, Korea, and Thailand at Far East but also U.S.A., Canada, Belgium and Italy at Western areas.
In its activity it always thinks that the approach and process from the bottom side will bring to a good result to realize the Print Exchange with foreign attractive artists.
The first opportunity has been caused by the individual relationship and confidence between a member and a foreign artist. In order to develop the indivisional friendship and achieve its purpose, its members are necessary to take action actively and to have voluntary spirits.
In addition to its activity, PRINTSAURUS having financial problems to organize the exchange exhibitions and invite the foreign artists, has realized many big projects to be supported by e.g. museum, galleries, public associations and embassy.

3) Organization
PRINTSAURUS has the different executive committees of each country / exhibition to set up some projects as well as the head office doing general affairs.

4) Proposal of Print Exchange
PRINTSAURUS proposes that the International Print Exchange together with many foreign countries will be expected to obtain the following signification.;
* The Contemporary Original Print, one of the artistic expression styles, is very suitable for the International Exchange because the original prints have limited edition numbers and the convenience of transportation by mail.
* To introduce the unknown young artists and bring their works before a wider general public in not only Japan but also many country, by providing the exhibitions which a museum, a critic and a gallery do not organize but artists run by themselves.
* To promote a greater awareness and knowledge of original printmaking to many audience.
* To deepen a mutual understanding and motivate a thinking beyond political, economical and social borders.

5) Goal
PRINTSAURUS expects to have a big network with many foreign artists and enlarge the circle of the Print Exchange by its steady activities.
PRINTSAURUS is waiting for your proposal and idea from foreign and domestic artists.
